Welcome to Bitcointalk Academy
Why we built a free education platform for the oldest Bitcoin forum, who it's for, and how to use it.
Welcome to Bitcointalk Academy
For 15+ years, Bitcointalk has been the place where Bitcoin actually gets discussed. Not the hot-take version. Not the influencer version. The version where people sign their PGP keys, link their evidence, and stake their forum reputations on what they say.
Newcomers struggle on Bitcointalk. Not because the forum is unfriendly — it's because the rules are dense, the culture is opinionated, and the costs of getting it wrong are real. Wrong-board posts get locked. Plagiarized posts get tracked. Begging-for-merit posts get publicly ridiculed.
Bitcointalk Academy exists to flatten that learning curve.
What we're doing
We're building a free, community-built education layer for the forum. Every course is short, focused, and grounded in real forum culture. The lessons get you to the point where you can post safely, build merit, and avoid the scams that target newcomers.
Right now we're shipping with one full course — Bitcointalk 101 — and six more on the roadmap:
- Forum Survival Guide
- Bitcoin Fundamentals
- Earning on Bitcointalk
- Services & Marketplace
- Security & Privacy
- Community Tools
What you get
Do
- +Take the courses in any order — they're stand-alone
- +Use your local board if English isn't your first language (more soon)
- +Earn a Forum Passport once you've completed the bronze-tier set
- +Verify your Bitcointalk username and link your forum identity
Don't
- −Treat this site as a replacement for the forum — it isn't
- −Expect paid courses, tokens, or referral commissions — there are none
- −Skip the rules-reading lessons. They will save you a ban
What we're not
- Not affiliated with theymos or Bitcointalk.org officially
- No paid courses — education is always free
- Not collecting unnecessary data
- Clearly-labelled ads only — never hidden, never in the lesson reading column
Everything here is funded by donations, goodwill, and a few clearly-labelled ads — donations keep the ad load light. The code is open, the content is open, and the only thing we're trying to grow is the population of well-prepared forum members.
How to start
If you find the Academy useful and want to give back, the highest-leverage thing you can do is share your referral link with one forum newcomer. We track community-led growth on the promoter leaderboard and recognize top contributors as Founding Promoters.
Welcome. Make yourself at home.
