Terms of use

The Academy offers free, community-built lessons, quizzes, simulations and guides about the Bitcointalk forum and Bitcoin. It is not affiliated with Bitcointalk.org, its administrators, or any project, campaign or service mentioned on the site.

• Everything on the Academy is general education. It is not financial, investment, legal or tax advice, and it does not tell you what to buy, sell or join.
• Cryptocurrency carries real risk, including the loss of everything you put in. You are responsible for your own decisions.
• The simulations use made-up scenarios, price movements modelled on past market periods (not real price records) and pretend money. How you do in them says nothing about how you would do with real funds.
• We work to keep lessons accurate, but the forum and the wider crypto world change quickly. If you spot a mistake, please use the “suggest a correction” link on the lesson or the contact form.

• Keep your password or Login Key private. Anything done with your sign-in details is treated as done by you.
• A Login Key is shown only once and is the only way into a Login Key account. If you lose it, we cannot recover the account — see Login Key recovery.
• Verify only a Bitcointalk account you control. Verification shows that you could edit that forum profile at the time; it says nothing else about you.

Please don't:

• create extra accounts, fake referrals or self-referrals, or automate activity to collect XP, streaks, leaderboard places, referral credit or certificates;
• try to break into, overload or get around the security of the site;
• send spam, abuse, malware, or content you don't have the right to share through any of our forms;
• impersonate a forum member or anyone else.

We may remove XP, leaderboard places, referral credit, certificates or passports gained this way, and suspend accounts that break these rules.

Certificates and Forum Passports record what you completed on the Academy and are verified against Academy records. They are not issued or endorsed by Bitcointalk.org and they are not a formal qualification. XP, levels and streaks can never be bought.

• Campaign listings summarise public forum threads and can be out of date or wrong. Rates, rules and open slots are set by each campaign's manager on Bitcointalk — always read the forum thread before you join.
• A listing is not an endorsement. “Featured” and “Sponsored” listings are paid placements or use a referral link that may earn the Academy a commission, and they are labelled.
• Some advertised projects, such as casinos or exchanges, may be restricted or illegal where you live. Following your local law is up to you.

You keep ownership of what you send us — Voices answers, corrections, link suggestions, campaign submissions and messages. By sending it, you allow us to store it, edit it for length and clarity, and publish it on the Academy for the purpose you sent it for. Only send what you have the right to share. We may decline or remove any submission.

Lessons, articles and the site's design are the Academy's work unless stated otherwise. Summaries and short quotes of forum posts are credited to their authors and link to the original thread; those authors keep their rights. You are welcome to link to any page and to quote short passages with a link back.

• Donations are voluntary and don't unlock features, XP or any other advantage. Bitcoin payments can't be reversed, so check the address and amount before you send.
• Referral credit and promoter badges are counted from sign-ups through referral links. Credit gained through fake or self-made sign-ups doesn't count.

The Academy links to Bitcointalk.org, campaign threads, tools and other sites we don't control. We are not responsible for their content, their offers or how they treat you.

The Academy is provided free of charge and “as is”. We may change, pause or remove any feature or content at any time, and we don't promise the site will always be available or error-free. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from using the site or from acting on its content — including trading losses, campaign disputes, scams or anything that happens on other sites. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

You can stop using the Academy at any time and ask us to delete your account through the contact form. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

When these terms change we update the date at the top, and we note significant changes in the changelog. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply.

Translations of these terms are provided for convenience. If a translation conflicts with this English version, the English version prevails.
